Grid Row Filtering

Each column on the grids is searchable and allows you to quickly filter a column and display only the records that contain that field information.  In order to use grid row filtering, the column must be included in the view.  Use the search criteria builder to search for field columns that cannot be included in a view.

To filter by column field on the grid:

1.     At the column row on the grid, enter the information you wish to filter by, depending on the field type.

2.     Click anywhere on the screen off the field to search with the default operator, or click the operator button next to the field to select an operator.  After selecting an operator, click anywhere in the screen to apply the filter.  A tile will display indicating the filter.

3.     The list will update based on the filter.

4.     To filter again in the same field column, enter the information you wish to filter by and click anywhere in the screen.

5.     Since there is already a tile with the previous filter, you will be prompted to replace or add. For example, if you filtered ‘Last Name’ by Jones, a tile will display with that criteria.  Now enter Smith in the ‘Last Name’ field.  You will be asked to replace the filter for Jones with Smith, or to add Smith to display records for both filters.

The last operator you selected will be in place as long as you are using grid filtering on that area.  Once you click to a different area, then go back, the default operator will be used.

You may use the keyboard to apply certain grid search operations:

Enter – apply the default operator

Spacebar – add to the grid search at the popup ‘add/replace’ window

Tab, spacebar – replace the grid search at the popup ‘add/replace’ window

You may also change the filter by editing the tile.

1.     Click the pencil icon on the tile to open the search criteria builder.

2.     Change the operator, if necessary, and enter the new information you wish to search for.

3.     Click the Apply button.

To cancel the search, click the X on the tile.

Why can’t I search ‘in the list’ on the grid?

The operator ‘in the list’ is available only at the criteria builder search feature.

I just used the grid row filter to find records.  Can I save this search?

Yes.  Any filter on the grid that results in a tile may be saved as a search and applied again.  Click

ü Save Search to the right of the tile and enter a name for the search.  The saved search will display in the searches panel under ‘My Searches.’
